Weather stripping Seals the Sides and Top
Weather stripping creates the seal between the door slab and the frame. When it is compressed, torn, missing, or uneven, light and air can pass around the sides or top of the door.
The Door Sweep Seals the Bottom
The sweep closes the gap between the door and the threshold. A worn or poorly fitted sweep can allow cold air, insects, water, or debris into the home at the bottom of the entry.
Thresholds Need Solid Support
The threshold must sit correctly so the door can close and seal against it. Settling, wear, moisture damage, or a poor fit can create gaps that simple weatherstripping will not fully solve.
Alignment Affects the Seal
Hinges, latches, and the strike plate help the door close in the correct position. If the door rubs, sags, or does not latch tightly, the weather stripping may not contact evenly around the opening.
