FAQs

How many inches of insulation is good in the attic?

The higher the R-Value, the better the thermal performance of the insulation. We recommend 14 to 16 inches of cellulose which will give you a R-value of approximately 53 for 14 inches and a R-value of approximately 60 for 16 inches.

Which insulation should I choose?

Loose fill cellulose is ideal for attics in which the joists are irregularly spaced as well as those with many obstructions that you’ll need to work around.

What is Cellulose insulation made of?

Cellulose insulation is made from recycled paper products, primarily newsprint, and has a very high recycled material content, generally 82% to 85%. The paper is first reduced to small pieces and then fiberized, creating a product that packs tightly into building cavities.

Do I need to remove existing insulation?

You may want to remove insulation that is damaged or has mold. However, you do not need to remove insulation that’s in good condition.

How long does it take to insulate an attic?

Smaller homes would be in the 2-to-3-hour range while the larger homes would be in the 5-to-8-hour range.

How much does Attic Insulation cost?

It depends on R-value (inches), difficulty of attic, quality of cellulose, etc. But it would be around .20$ to .50$ per inch.
